56.0 — A calmer Mind Your Now: one Now screen, Undo you can trust, and Kaia that shows her work
Version 56.0 is the biggest update in a long time. Your day now lives on one Now screen, organized by Critical Now, Opportunity Now and Over the Horizon. Finishing a task frees its time on your calendar, and every change Kaia makes comes with a note and an Undo.
✨ New
- One Now screen. Your tasks sit in their zones on a single page, with a quick "Add a task" bar at the top and a place to name this week's three or four outcomes. Getting around is simpler too: Now, Calendar, Household, Habits and More.
- Done means done. Check off a task and it gets a satisfying strike-through. If that task had time blocked on your calendar, the block is freed and the rest of your day shifts to use it.
- Undo you can trust. After you complete something, Undo stays for 10 seconds and waits while your mouse is over it. On a computer, Ctrl+Z (Cmd+Z on a Mac) undoes your last completion.
- Kaia shows her work. When Kaia changes a task, she leaves a short note on it saying what she changed and why, with an Undo. A single line at the top of Now sums up her changes, and anything touching Critical Now waits for your OK.
- Let Kaia run the method (optional). A new setting lets Kaia keep your lists honest: tasks nobody has touched in a while move down a zone, each with a note explaining why. It's off until you turn it on.
- Kaia can search the web. Ask about opening hours, a product or the news, and Kaia looks it up.
- Interrupt Kaia. You can type while Kaia is replying, queue your next message, or press Stop.
- See who added it. The grocery list shows who in your household put each item there.
🛠 Improved & fixed
- Times are right everywhere. Some task times showed a few hours off, and editing a task's notes could nudge its date. Times now match on every screen and in every time zone.
- A cleaner calendar. Each block has one checkmark instead of two, Week and Month views open reliably, Month shows the right weekday names, and tasks with a date now appear on the desktop calendar at their real length.
- Calendar connections stay calm. If Google Calendar needs you to sign in again, you see one quiet notice with a Reconnect button instead of repeating errors. Your calendar also stays filled in when Google is busy.
- Groceries and chores, side by side. On a computer, Household opens on the same Groceries and Chores screen as the phone, so the grocery list is one tap away. Chores and groceries also stay in sync across your household's devices.
- Settings, simplified. Every section has the same calm layout on computer and phone, with nothing taken away.
- Habits agree everywhere. The habit list now matches on phone and computer, and a habit never shows up as "late".
- Find anything fast. Ctrl+K (Cmd+K on a Mac) now jumps to every part of the app, including Groceries, Chores, Habits and Timers. Search shows a repeating task once instead of once per date.
- Household display codes work. The household QR code for a shared screen now opens correctly when scanned.
- Steadier voice with Kaia. Voice conversations reconnect more reliably and notice when you hang up.
- Task lengths restored. Tasks that had started showing a 1-minute length have their normal length back.
- Plus dozens of smaller touches: a clearer Plan & Billing page, a proper "page not found" screen, no more stray pop-ups when you open Settings, and a cleaner look in light and dark mode.
